(124)Hahndorf Located 28 km southeast of Adelaide, it was one of the first German settlements in Australia. Hahndof was named after the captain of the “Zebra”, Dirk Meinerts Hahn, who arrived in Australia in 1838. Impressed by the will of the emigrants, he helped them find a suitable piece of land, for which they honored him by naming it.
(125)Charles Flaxman (1806-1869) was employed by George Fife Angas as his confidential employee. He spoke German and conducted all negotiations for Angas with the emigrants from Germany who were fleeing the religious persecution of their homeland. He traveled to Australia in 1838 on board the "Prince George" and accompanied 200 Prussian immigrants.
(127)Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Kavel (1800-1851) The school teacher was the brother of August Ludwig Christian Kavel and arrived in Port Adelaide on the "Prince George" in 1838 at the age of 38.
